Can you use a first name of a fictional character in a paper?

I gotta write a paper for school and i wanted to know can i use the first name of a character in the paper. For example: "Tony, had many diffrences in character in the movie he put on the suit" refering to Tony Stark in the Iron Man comics.





I know you cant if he was a real person, you would have to say Stark. But thats weird, seeing as hes fictional.
