On my credit report, my husbands first name is my middle name, do I need to have this fixed?

Also, is credit protection a good thing to have on a credit card? I cancelled it last night on mine and the guy got really snotty about it.

Yes you should have that fixed. I once got turned down for a store credit card and found out later it was because one of the credit reporting agencies had listed the wrong birth year on my credit report. You should pull your credit reports and check them for accuracy, and send proof of your correct name to the CRAs.

Also, the credit protector stuff is not really necessary...its just another way that CC companies try to make money off of you.
Reply:yes badly
Reply:Should I fix my name?

No, not a significant error. This was caused by a typist when they entered your name to get a report. Won't affect you, or any output.

Credit protection is a waste of money in my opinion. First, you are only responsible for the first $50.on any account, but that's Federal law. Most creditors will remove and debt you legitimately dispute that is not yours, because they don't want to lose you over $50.

Don't worry about the snotty guy, you'll never meet or talk to him again.
Reply:It is best that he does. Mistaken identity can cause serious problems. I had several different name variations on my credit report. All you have to do is write a letter stating the name is in error and state the correct name.
Reply:Make sure your information is correct on a credit report. Write the credit reporting agencies when the information is not correct.
