Can you have a first and a middle name and be called by both names together as if it was your first name?

For example.. I knew a girl named Maria Gabriela. Maria was her first name and Gabriela was her middle, but she was always called MariaGabriela (together). Do you HAVE to use a hyphen if you want two names to be said out loud together?

Can you have a first and a middle name and be called by both names together as if it was your first name?
You do not need a hyphen. To be sure that the names are said together, some people spell their names together...i.e.JoAnne, AnnMarie, .MaryJane, but it isn't necessary. Some names just go together nicely. Think of Sarah Michelle Geller or Sarah Jessica Parker. It isn't just the girls with:Mary Katherine

Patti Ann

Rose Mary

Emma Claire

Some guys have two names:John David

Billy Ray

Jim Bob

It is your baby, and people will call him/her what you say the name is. That is, until they get to high school...then you NEVER know what name will come along. In my family, every kid, girls and boys were called a variation of our last name. You'll just have to take that in stride. For now, enjoy the name YOU choose.
Reply:That is way too long but yes, you could make it as one continuous name or 2 separate names and say it as one.... but keep in mind, that gets a little annoying. Sometimes with names like Maryann it is on but then the person has another name in the middle too like

Maryann Helen. Hypens are appropriate in a case like Jo-beth, Im not into hypens.
Reply:No, you don't have to have a hyphen. You can be called whatever you want, first name or middle name or a nickname. Me and all of my cousins are always called by our first and middle names together by family members.
Reply:do you dont have to use a hyphen, it all depends on what your little girl or boy decides when they are old enough - they might decide they wanna use both names, or just the one - i would step away from traditional ones like AnnMarie though as they are very common!
Reply:What ever you want to be called, you can. And you don't have to use a hyphen.

I love the name Lucy Elizabeth. Every time I say it, I say it as if it were a full first name.
Reply:Nope! My aunt is Mary lou. No hyphen. My family calls me Kelly Marie which is my first and middle. If you introduce her as Lily Anne or whatever your choice is then it will stick and thats what people will call her.
Reply:No you don't have to hyphen. I have a friend named Karen Lee and that is what she goes by.
Reply:No you don't have to use a hyphen. My first name is Erica, my middle name is Dawn, but my nick name is RiccaDawn.
Reply:no. my best friends name is Annie Kate johnson (fake last name)

i think it is perfectly okayy withouit them
Reply:No way! I have a friend whose daughters name is Maria Christina, and she goes by both as her first name! No hyphen needed!
Reply:You wouldnt have to but you would probably have to correct them.
Reply:ja like wilson wilson wilson(home improvement)
Reply:yes, my moms first name is Sue and middle name is Ann but she goes by Sue Ann without any hyphen.
Reply:I call Alexa Cate, Lexie Cate. We put the space on there. Its fine either way.
Reply:not at all, just call the person that and that's what they'll be called.
Reply:Nowadays, anything goes. Do what you want.
Reply:No for the hyphen. my cousin is called by both her first and middle.
