Is it rude or impolite or disrespectful to call the President by his first name?

I like saying Barack sometimes %26amp; Obama but President Obama is what we have to get used to if he wins..is it OKay to keep calling him Barack...I only care about the troops being home safe %26amp; our economy circulating again %26amp; the many other problems resolved...what is the story about how we address him...I know some people will continue to say he is the Messiah, but seriously.

Is it rude or impolite or disrespectful to call the President by his first name?
When you are talking with your friends or whatever, call him what you want But.....

If you ever get the chance to meet him, i would advise you to address him as either President Obama or Mr. President. Anything else would be very rude.
Reply:I think it depends. If you were addressing him in person, I would not use his first name. Even though he is a pretty down-to-earth guy, it is not polite. If you are talking about him in a formal setting (e.g. you are giving a speech and you want to quote him), you should address him as Senator Obama or depending on the outcome of the election, President Obama. If you are referring to him at home or with friends, I don't think it matters.
Reply:If you are addressing the president directly, you call him "Mr. President." If you are referring to him in a public setting, you say "President Obama." If you're at home discussing politics, its ok to say Barack.

I've got a few choice nicknames for our current president, which I shall not reveal here.
Reply:who said he was the Messiah?

anyway, I call him Barack and I don't think it is disrespectful. It's not what you do, but how you do it.

Obama08*
Reply:I don't think he really cares about those petty formalities, to be honest. He's a down-to-earth guy, and going by what SNL and the Daily Show do to all the presidents, they can't afford to get hung up on it.
Reply:No it is not disrespectful to call him President Barack or Barack Obama.

Obama in 09. I voted for him.
Reply:President Obama or Mr. President are the correct ways to address a president. "sir" of course, would always do in a pinch.
Reply:Obama is so down to earth, I really don't think he'd mind. When you address him in public, President or Senator Obama IS APPROPRIATE.
Reply:Yes. Those closest to the President will refer to him as Mr. President. All advisers,Cabinet Members, ect. use this term.
Reply:you can call him whatever you want, freedom of speech ensures that
Reply:I'm sure he would call you by your first name without being asked, so it's only fair that you should be able to do the same.
Reply:People used to call Bill Clinton Bubba.
Reply:it would sound more respectful to say president obama or just obama but not just barrack
Reply:No its not disrespectuf - he serves you after all -you pay his salary and all politicians
Reply:In REFINED circles... it's IMPOLITE to call ANY ADULT.. who is OLDER THAN YOU ARE.. by their FIRST NAME
Reply:i dont think so

plus jimmy carter was always jimmy, and bill clinton was always bill...now its presidents cater and clinton...so as long as he dont mind, it will be Barrack
Reply:Mr. President will do fine .
Reply:you call him president just like you call a doctor a doctor.they earned that right
Reply:No. Most people don't anyway.
Reply:He's awesome. Why not?
Reply:How about the standard BO?
Reply:It's better than calling him a doo doo head.

thanks
Reply:i really dont think so
