You don't need a lawyer. There is paperwork to fill out from the court that you should be able to get from the courthouse. You most likely will need authorization from the father. Here, if he has paid child support within the past 2 years, he must give written consent. If no support w/i 2 yrs, then he must be notified by certified letter to his last known address. Good luck!
